The story began when our founder rented a Jeep Wrangler on his honeymoon in Hawaii. That week behind the wheel made one thing clear: he wanted to own a Wrangler. A few years later, after buying his first one, he realized the hardtop didn’t match how he wanted to use the vehicle. Switching to a soft top was the right move — and it also revealed something important: there was real demand for used hardtops.

What started as buying and selling a few tops quickly turned into a small garage operation with a modest inventory. As more people took advantage of trading in their hard top for a new soft top, the business expanded into a storage unit, then into a larger RV storage space. Inventory grew, installation services expanded, and we became an authorized Bestop dealer.

When COVID increased demand for outdoor recreation, it created the opportunity to open our first dedicated storefront. Around the same time, Ford reintroduced the Bronco, allowing us to expand the same business model that had been so successful for Jeep owners into an entirely new community of Bronco enthusiasts.

As the business grew, we recognized something that remains true today: every Jeep and Bronco owner is different. Some prefer the security, insulation, and quieter ride of a hardtop. Others want the flexibility and open-air experience of a soft top. There isn’t a “right” answer — it’s simply about how each owner wants to enjoy their vehicle.

That realization led to what has become the foundation of our business: the Top Swap trade-in program. Customers who visit our shop can trade in their existing hardtop or soft top for credit toward another top, lowering the cost of upgrading while eliminating the hassle of trying to sell their old top themselves. Drive in with one top, drive home with another — all in a single visit.

The program also helped build something unique. Every trade-in added to our inventory, allowing us to create a large selection of used Jeep and Bronco hardtops. Those trade-ins don’t just benefit local customers — they allow us to ship quality used hardtops nationwide to customers who otherwise might struggle to find one. While we also accept soft tops as trade-ins, many are disassembled and sold as replacement components through our online marketplaces, helping extend the life of older soft tops that might otherwise go unused.

We expanded again by launching a full e-commerce website that allows customers to shop our inventory in real time. This gave buyers across the country direct access to our selection and made the process of finding the right top faster and easier than ever. We also became a platinum certified installer for Bestop’s eTop: the world’s only fully electric soft top that is available for Jeeps and Broncos.

In 2026, we launched TST Hardtops, our own brand of new hardtops developed to help fill the gap created by the limited availability of used OEM hardtops for many Jeep and Bronco models. By offering a high-quality new alternative, we can continue helping customers find the right solution even when factory hardtops are difficult — or impossible — to source.
